Groundwater Management Study
& Protection Plan
Loyalist Township
County of Lennox & Addington, Ontario

Loyalist Township received $36,769 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or 42 percent of the total cost of the study ($88,281). The PWPF study started in April 2000, and was completed in June 2001. Major study activities included the following: creation of a groundwater inventory (including identification of sources of water, and primary areas of recharge and discharge; determination of water well yields, including areas of low yields; measurement of water quality; determination of directions of groundwater flow; identification of areas sensitive to groundwater contamination); examination of groundwater use practices; development of groundwater protection measures; inventory of contaminant sources; and education of the Township about groundwater.
