VILLAGE OF MERRICKVILLE – WOLFORD
MUNICIPAL GROUNDWATER
MANAGEMENT STUDY

The Village of Merrickville-Wolford received $98,408 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or roughly 84 percent of the total cost of the study ($117,264). The PWPF study commenced in January 2000, and was completed in November 2000. The Village of Merrickville-Wolford undertook its PWPF study independently of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville PWPF study. The Village’s study was completed in November 2000, while the County study was completed in June 2001. Major study activities included identification and characterization of the hydrogeology of the study area; identification of water uses and public concerns; appraisal of groundwater quality and contaminant sources; modeling of the groundwater system and creation of a preliminary wellhead protection area; and identification of elements of a plan for groundwater protection.
