Mississippi Valley Groundwater Management Study

The Mississippi Valley study is led by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority. The conservation authority received $1,059,100 from the MOE for the study. The study components include delineating wellhead protection areas at 16 municipal wells. Additional study components include: regional groundwater characterization, groundwater susceptibility mapping, regional contaminant source inventory, and groundwater use assessment.

The study will also include preparation of a water budget for the study area to assess the susceptibility of shallow and deep wells to drought conditions.
